OUR FOUNDER

 

Fr. Dan Zaleski was born in Fremont Ohio and grew up in Wyandotte Michigan, his childhood parish was St. Stanislaus Kostka in Wyandotte as well as Old St. Mary’s in Greektown (Detroit).

He attended the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome, studying there for the priesthood.


Fr. Zaleski was ordained a priest on June 13, 1980, by his late uncle, Bishop Nicolaus Sasinowski of the Diocese of Lomza, Poland. 

Before arriving in the Archdiocese of Detroit, Fr. Zaleski served as a religious superior, director of the St. Francis Chapel in Boston and director of the pastoral care department of St. Anthony and St. Clare Hospital in Alton, Ill.


From 1998 to 2019, he served as pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish in Dearborn Heights Michigan. He was granted senior status from the Archdiocese of Detroit in 2019. 


Fr. Zaleski currently serves at St. Joseph Parish in South Lyon Michigan. Some of Fr. Zaleski’s favorite saints are St. Padre Pio, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Therese of Lisieux.
